Cette rivière est un véritable mystère. Découverte par le Docteur Livingston cette rivière a connu des périodes d’asséchement total dont la dernière qui a duré trente ans, s’était achevée en 2009, année qui a vu de nouveau l’eau revenir et alimenter les marais de Savuti.
